You pay for the name

My 12 year old granddaughter is a gymnastics idol and Simone Biles is her idol so I was delighted when I did this backpack was offered. That being said, I would never spend that much money on this particular backpack. Yes, it's beautiful and durable, and it comes with a Caboodles cosmetic bag, but it's not worth more than $70. There is nothing WOW! and the only reference to Simone Biles is in her name. Her name is nowhere on the backpack and there isn't even a picture of her on the label! If you give this backpack to a young admirer of Simone's, she will never know that Simone has anything to do with it. However, the Caboodles name and logo are printed in several places on the backpack. The backpack is well constructed and has a more durable body so it will keep its shape and not fold even when empty. The purple interior is a nice, fun contrast to the black exterior. The top zip pocket has a mirror which also houses a Kaboodles cosmetic case. This is your standard plastic cigar box shaped case with another mirror and a slide out vanity tray. The backpack has many pockets with dedicated space for a cell phone, laptop and even a yoga mat or rolled up towel. The zippers are thick and strong and the shoulder straps are soft and padded. Despite all of this, there is nothing exceptional about this backpack that sets it apart from all others on the market. The backpack she uses for school has the same number of pockets and compartments but costs about 1/3 the price, and the one she uses for gymnastics competitions is larger and more like an overnight bag than this one. In summary, this is a really good backpack. It's just overpriced for its size and durability, and the Simone Biles tag and Caboodles branding are just an excuse to justify the price.

Pros
  • With the gym in mind, Simone has designed a wet/dry cover MVP. There are pockets for water bottles on the sides. O-Snap system allows See Me Duo bags to be carried (not included)
Cons
  • Minor issues
