I used this for the first time with an 8 inch, three layer (two inch) cake. try to take it out. We just cut the cake out of the holder. I can't imagine putting a wider cake in there! to set the cake. The cake sat on an 8" cake board and shifted slightly during shipping. It touched the sides but because it was covered in cookie crumbs it didn't stick. Next time I'll apply a few dots of glue or double sided tape. The clips were tight and secure. I wasn't confident using the handle (although it seems sturdy) so I carried it underneath. I find it overpriced but I'm glad I had something big enough to carry my cakes.
