I requested a 65+ pound size for my Shepherd just before heading to the rocky Maine tide pools. Glad I did! These algae-covered, slippery rocks were covered in thick green algae at low tide, camouflaging the razor-sharp shells that were exposed as the tide receded. My 70 lb German Shepherd was safe with these boots but they needed to be buckled really tight on the paws - they seem a bit big. But once I got my hands on them they stayed on with their double velcro straps and gave my boy the protection he needed and I wanted to see that. I suggest putting them on your dog for a few layers before use: it's fun to let your dog hobble across the living room floor in these booties. More importantly, it prepares the dog to put the shoes on his paws until the time he really needs them. In summary; They are a bit big but seem to stay buttoned up when tightened. They offer good protection but if you have a large active dog be prepared to lose one or more of them if they fall. Not perfect, but at this price they offer good quality.
