Review on 🎧 BASN Metalen Noise Isolating Headphones - 4 Drivers In-Ear Monitors with Powerful Bass Sound, Two Detachable MMCX Cables, Carrying Case, and 1/4 Adapter (Black) by Bohyun Hansen

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Still up in the air A constant critic for those with few references/comparisons **UPDATED

(Update) For the first 2 weeks I was a bit disappointed with them. I got my external DAC and maybe because of that, or "burnout", the headphones are more comfortable. I can't rate them higher than 4 because the sound is imperceptible. It's certainly accurate and Hi-Fi quality, but I was expecting an extended, powerful low range, especially because of the dynamic "2" drivers. ARE there 1 or 2 dynamic drivers? I think a lower price of just over $100 is more reasonable. I would also like to add a balanced 4 pin connector to the silver oxygen free copper wire. Not exactly a realistic proposition, but will certainly make a difference. All in all I'm more satisfied than disappointed and glad I didn't send them back. That makes me think of supposedly inferior bassists. However, I will keep looking for an IEM with amazing sound that I haven't heard before. (Translated by Google) As a trained audio engineer and amateur producer, not having headphones is utterly odd. It's just not my favorite way of listening. So far I've had a couple of cheap headphones from other manufacturers, as well as a pair of 1More triple drivers that cost around $100. They clearly had good sound quality, but I'm really amazed at the fidelity. I still remember the first time I connected a pair of active professional studio monitors; Chills ran through my body and my life literally changed forever. From that point on, I became somewhat obsessed with subtle and often subjective differences in fidelity. My current settings are very poor. I don't have a studio or high-end signal circuitry, so I went from setting up the room acoustics to starting with the best headphones I could find. I'm using Stream MQA/tidal so my source is the only hi-fi component in my chain. The 1More Triple drivers were so acceptable that I had no intention of using another pair. I found Basn along with Mee and some Sennheiser IEMs. The Basn Bmasters were right in my price range and based on the "only $600" reviews I assumed they would be a decent step up over the 1More. The Basn website announced that the Matalan has about 70 more, so I didn't even check them out. Based on the specs and my experience with fidelity, I assumed the Metalens would have a wonderful high frequency range that I couldn't afford yet. Then I discovered that Metalens were being sold on Revain so after a few hours I went after them expecting to find a different quality level. Everything is relative, and sound in particular is subjective. I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS REVIEW COMPLETE. I have iFi dsd Black in the mail. It offers a high level of accuracy and can perform a second deployment of MQA files. This should give me a much clearer idea of how good these Basn Metalen are. I think I was hoping for a more wonderful experience, maybe hearing the songs as if it were the first time. I certainly expected headphones of this caliber to evoke far more emotion than they seem and if I were to pay full price for them I would be dissatisfied. As I said before I will wait for the DAC/headphone amp to come out before giving my final opinion on these headphones. For some reason, there are 3 pairs of earbuds less than other Basn series. Although the quality appears very premium and the buds themselves are metallic, they are quite understated and almost bland compared to the Colored BMasters. The matte finish and sharp edges can create a sense of class and elegance. However; That's my only real complaint at the moment, the finish has already started to scratch around the edges and I've had them for less than 1 week and have hardly worn them so they can rub against each other. A bad sign for the most expensive model in the Basn collection. Stay tuned I'll be back in about a week to update my results.
