I don't know about you, but I have a lot of trouble tolerating anything that sits across my "equator," and the hotter it gets, the more I hate it.I've been on what seems like an interminable search for chafe-fighting slip-shorts that can be worn under light summer dresses without constricting, squeezing, rolling, bunching, or "shaping." Everything I try either has a control top or panel, or a tiny, cutting band of elastic. And everything is designed to hit right across the belly button.Other times of the year I'm OK with pulling things in, squishing and compressing and shaping and whatever it is that makes me look a little less lumpy. But not when its 90+ degrees out and 80 degrees inside at church and I just want something that lets me breathe and not pass out in the heat.What I want is a pair of shorts that sits right at the hips like my favorite briefs, leaving my hard-earned belly curves to do as they will.Well, this is NOT that pair of shorts. They still are designed as "high rise," with a band - albeit a relatively wide and comfortable one - that fits around the belly.Why do I still give them 4 stars?Because unlike most every other product I've tried, the waistband is gentle enough that it can be easily and comfortably *folded down* to fit around the hips like I want it to. They're also almost entirely cotton and lightweight.I took them for a trial run under a light dress at an outdoor wedding shower in 95 degree heat. They did the job better than anything else I've found. Not the perfect, weightless garment I've been hunting for, but I wasn't constantly bothered by them or frequently tempted to adjust them in a most unladylike fashion.For reference, I am 5'2", roughly 125 lbs, with a classic "mom" shape, and I ordered medium.
