I should switch from my laptop to a VGA to HDMI converter which then plugs into my TV. Everything worked fine except the screws holding the cable in my laptop are too short. Since the screw holes on my laptop are countersunk, I turned the knobs on the screws and they never tightened, only turned. Since my laptop is actually on my lap, the cable fell out and I had to reattach it. .So I replaced this cable with the one on my desktop. It works there as the screw holes are not recessed and the cable screws work. The cable that was on my desktop has longer screws to fit my laptop. I've uploaded two photos, one to show my laptop's connector and the other to compare the screw lengths on the two cables.
