Review on Sony XB950B1 Extra Bass Wireless Headphones with App Control in Blue by Donotello Figueroa

Extra bass, but more weight and size

I bought these headphones because sometimes I prefer to add some bass I would have liked to music that might not have been played with as much bass. I understand that some readers may feel that all music should be heard "as intended" by the artist or producer, but I love using technology to create a listening experience that I personally enjoy. My very light and comfortable Bose SoundTrue headphones are extremely accurate and known for playing music "as intended", but sometimes I want a different listening experience. So I bought them to complement, not replace, my Bose product. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. The earbuds are easy to charge and connect and come with a cable if you just want to connect them to your device for quick listening. The blue color is very light and it's my favorite color. When you put the earbuds on for the first time, they feel soft and comfortable. They are louder compared to my Bose SoundTrue headphones and of course there is an option to boost the bass. However, the sound is not as accurate and fine-tuned to my ears as it is with my Bose headphones. I downloaded an app from Sony that gives you control over the amount of bass and some preset EQ settings. The application is rather poor in its capabilities, but it is interesting to play with. I'd recommend downloading an equalizer app or music player with built-in equalizer if you want more control. I found the Sony Music Player (a separate app from the Bass Management app) no longer to be a regular music player and ended up uninstalling it from my device. I have several reasons why these good headphones can be rated 4 stars. instead of 5 stars. First, they are larger and heavier than regular headphones. While they feel soft and comfortable, I need a bit of a weight break after about 30 minutes, but with a few breaks you can safely use them for the whole movie. The banks themselves are really big, I think because of the bass booster and some of the basic controls (play/stop/skip/reverse/volume/extra bass on/off) built into the headset. Once placed in a compatible case, they take up much more room in my backpack than my other headphones. I will probably travel with the Bose SoundTrue headphones due to the light weight and size. I can't fault these headphones for playing music with less fidelity than my Bose SoundTrue headphones. Finally, the Sony Extra Bass headphones are specifically designed to offer a listening experience that can only be described as 'unauthentic'. Listeners should understand that they serve a different purpose than headphones, which are designed to accurately reproduce recorded music. Bass-heavy fans can finally turn up the bass with these headphones, and the sound in the headphones is quite satisfactory overall. I think other bass fans will find them a welcome addition to other headphones and headphones if you fancy a little old-fashioned punch in your music every now and then.
