These packing cubes are of good quality. There is a film under the mesh that helps retain water and other things. They don't feel or feel cheap. However, if you "squeeze" your cubes (just another zip to get a tighter grip) you can see the strands stretch, so I'm not sure how strong they actually are. In my experience, compression makes very little difference. Also, my clothes were very wrinkled from the squeezing of the cubes. So if you don't have access to an iron or whatever, you're out of luck. As such, I wouldn't recommend them for a compression feature unless you pack them fairly lightly.
