Doesn't work in a sewing machine

My mom and I bought this thread along with Coolaroo Shade fabric to sew curtains for the street. It was threaded on a Husqvarna Viking sewing machine with an 18 gauge needle and longer stitches as recommended in the description. The result was terrible; We couldn't sew more than a few inches before the thread began to snap and tangle in front of our eyes, stopping the needle and forcing us to cut the fabric and rethread the machine, losing several feet of thread each time. Thread that was stretched and pulled. We tried different needle brands, needle sizes, stitch types and lengths, tension, etc. Finally we tried it on a plain piece of cotton and it was still frayed and frayed. We ended up having to stop mid-project to go to Walmart and buy the Coats & Clark outdoor polyester version of this yarn, although it didn't match the color either. It sewed up like a dream with the same settings we tried with this thread in the beginning. Having said that, I have to say that after knotting and tucking in numerous cut ends, I find this thread very suitable for hand sewing.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
