This junction box is similar in design to other Hikvision outdoor junction boxes, but this particular model has a design flaw. The three screw holes have a raised rim around the threads (see photo). When the turret camera base is bolted to the case, the camera base rests against the raised edges of the bolt holes, preventing the gasket from compressing the camera base and sealing the box properly. By tightening the screws, you can insert a piece of paper under the spacer between the camera base on the back box. Definitely not weather or water proof. The two workarounds I am considering to make the box waterproof for outdoor use are: 1. Apply latex or silicone caulk to the entire gasket between the camera base and the back box after installation. Ugly.2. I can try sanding the edges around the threads to make them flat. I'll see if this allows the camera base to compress the gasket enough to ensure a decent seal. I can top it off with a sealant bead.
