I was also tired of clamshell cases breaking after a few months so gave this one a try. It's okay, but the metal isn't strong enough for my purposes. I often carry my reading glasses in my back pocket, and the aluminum body warps when I sit on a hard surface, which I might do with clamshell glasses. Also, the edges are a bit sharp and I'm always afraid of ruining the leather or vinyl seat covers. So basically it doesn't work for me on hard or most soft surfaces. I think I'm going back to cribs.
