Excellent value for money, enhanced with customization

I recently installed a backyard cinema and was looking for a projector that was reasonable quality, affordable and compact enough to be easy to set up and take down to become. Elephas 2020 completed all three tasks! That's not to say that this is a perfect product in every case, but it works better than I expected. Initially I found this projector produced a very bright image and it seemed quite sharp. a little too hard. As I watched, I noticed that the reds were completely washed out, to the point where detail was missing and faces looked sunburnt. Then I noticed digital noise in reds and yellows throughout the image. It became clear that the color filtering was pushing the saturation much higher than it should be. When I changed the aspect ratio mode to pixel-to-pixel, the video processing was disabled and, being much more detailed, many colors were lost. By switching back to auto aspect ratio and using some video test patterns, I was able to bring the color back (25 points below the default center), eliminating noise, looking much more natural and bringing back detail. In this case, the overall brightness dropped a bit, but it's still a workable image that's easy to see at sunset and after sunset. While the contrast ratio is a far cry from what's advertised, as I'm assuming it was measured at full brightness and maximum color, it's still OK, although it's more milky gray than black. Value for money can hardly be a huge complaint though, as I've seen TVs and projectors well above this price range produce a similar image. The build quality feels good and it's heavy and the plastic feels thicker and stronger than what's typically included. It has a tripod mount on the bottom and is light enough to be comfortably held by almost any tripod. This makes it a bit unwieldy when watching a movie with the projector behind you, but it doesn't bother you. I would also recommend a front IR receiver in future models (especially for presentations where the speaker is likely to be in front of the device). Fan noise levels are low and easily drowned out even at moderate volumes. . We find it's barely noticeable from the outside, but was slightly louder when tested indoors. So if you want a functional projector with acceptable video that won't break the bank. I can recommend this device unreservedly.
