Compared to Fugoo XL

Two days of parallel listening tests performed with Fugoo XL. I listened to Fugoo XL naked for better sound quality. Spotify was my source and it was running with a high quality stream. (but not the highest) When listening to different genres of music, this was the closest speaker I've heard to knocking the Fuggo XL off the top (Audioengine B2, Sony SRS-X55, Doss soundbox, JBL Flip4). was undeniably louder than the Fugoo and I couldn't get it to distort or have any volume. (with flat EQ) The sound was audible even at maximum volume, albeit a bit boomy. On the other hand, Fugoo distorts at about half the volume; To be fair, however, the Fugoo did hit a deeper bass range, which puts it at a disadvantage when attempting to reproduce more volume. For my taste I prefer very deep bass as I am listening up close in a quiet room. (I think if you need high volume you should go for a larger line powered speaker anyway). With the best low bass in its class, Fugoo also sounded brighter in the upper frequencies. Also, Fugoo's soundstage was noticeably wider. (No doubt because of the side speakers) However, there were many songs where the T3 sounded better than the Fugoo, usually without very deep bass and heavy vocals. Especially with spoken words like advertisements, the T3 had an immediacy and presence that Fugoo couldn't match. The T3 isn't a speaker you'd want to carry around; While it's certainly small and light, it has a finish that feels very light. I consider it a stationary speaker. So you can save $50 and buy T5. In general, this is a great speaker, better (for me) only Fugoo XL.
