It's ok as a retractable stick, but there are drawbacks as a tripod. When mounted on a tripod, the gimbal will begin to vibrate due to the bending of the shaft. The gimbal will start to adjust too much, resulting in even more flexing and uncontrollable wobbling of the entire gimbal, tripod, and camera. You must physically stop the shaking with your hands. It did every time I used it as a tripod. I'm sticking with the base that came with my DJI Osmo for now. I still use a stick because as long as you hold it, it seems fine.
