Review on Samsung P2370HD 23-inch Full HD Monitor by Paul Islam

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Everything you need and more!

I received this product today and couldn't be happier. What the product name doesn't say is that it's an HDTV monitor, which means it has all aspects of a monitor, like good brightness, headphone jack and color, and it also has wonderful HDTV features like component input, HDMI Line-in, PC-in, built-in speakers (which sound surprisingly good) and, surprisingly, a DVI-in. It also has cable (or fiber optic, if you have it) input, meaning you can watch all your favorite TV programs right in the office. The box contains the monitor itself, a DVI cable, a PC cable, a power cord, a user manual and training DVD, assembly instructions (for an easy-to-assemble stand), a remote control, 2 AAA batteries for the remote control. , and a clip for cable management. However, there are two things I don't like about it, one of which isn't noticeable unless your screen is black. The lower right corner seems to be more illuminated than the other corners (I suspect this is due to the side lighting). Something else is bothering me. The built-in speakers are mono speakers, so they don't have a surround sound aspect. You can hook up surround sound to it, but I don't have a system. What worries me the most is that it doesn't even play stereo with headphones, at least not with an HDMI input, although you can change that in the awesome user interface this thing has. Pros: great lighting, HDTV and monitor inputs (HDMI, PC, DVI, component), VERY sleek, touch interface on the monitor itself, good built-in speakers, comes with EVERYTHING you need. Cons: Only mono sound (as far as I know) no surround sound system, side lighting can be uneven (barely visible) with black screen. Overall I'm giving this product a 5 out of 5 for the sleek looks, great picture quality, good built in speakers, cable and fiber optic TV options, extra stuff that comes with it and the HUGE variety of inputs . PC I just built! The uneven lighting is only in one corner and it's still not noticeable unless I'm really trying to notice it, and I also found this thing has stereo sound! I'm not sure how I got this to work, but I think if you play around with the settings enough it should work. In general, the monitor is of EXCELLENT quality.

Pros
  • And allows you to connect other digital devices easily and conveniently
Cons
  • Screen Tearing: This occurs when the monitor's refresh rate is too slow, causing the image to appear choppy or distorted.
