I've been using trays with lids for many years and they usually hold/prevent odors well. Then I did some research and came across this nice alternative and fell for it. I bought a jumbo as one of my kittens is 23lbs and overall it seemed to fit the bill. It looks better live, is durable, easy to assemble and has room for a large litter box and my two kitties (not at the same time as far as I know, but probably could). Problem? It's a urine trap. And it absorbs odors like nothing else. And the smell builds up. After a few months of use, the whole house stinks like you won't believe. I wipe it down with Clorox every time I change filler and use all sorts of odor neutralizers. All in vain. This is the ultimate stink bomb. Decades of living with cats didn't prepare me for this.
