It says it is an indoor/outdoor house but it is more of an indoor house. It's just not powerful enough for full outdoor use. I think if the wind picked up it would be blown away. We've put it on the covered porch for now and our cats love it. It's easy to assemble by just sticking the velcro straps together. There are several different cat holes (meaning less heat). The top one has a removable lid, but if a cat steps on the lid, it's not strong enough to keep from falling through. The rest of the house is strong enough to hold a cat, at least a medium sized cat. If you need a homemade option for your cat, that's fine. For outdoor use, however, I strongly recommend going the other way.
