Really thick and durable but too much for painting/canvas.

That's a good deal for 100 feet of wire, but keep in mind what you're going to hang or fix with it. I bought this wire to hang large canvas paintings (3ft x 6"+) and while it works I think it might be overkill for everyday chores and indoor hanging unless you are talking about the museum size and the weight of paintings/objects. .It is made of steel and is quite thick for a 12 gauge so unlike aluminum wire of the same gauge it was quite difficult to cut with my household wire cutters and stayed quite stiff when it was on the wrong side around itself stretched webs were wound and wound. It worked, but I could easily use a smaller gauge or lighter material for my projects and probably get better results when hanging (copper or aluminum is easier to twist and bend). the weight of the suspended object, the material of the wire, the flexibility, etc. when choosing (the higher the section number of the wire, the thinner the wire; therefore it bears less weight, and aluminum and copper are softer than steel, so d is smaller, but easier to bend/stretch.) I know that OOK 16 gauge galvanized steel wire is rated for up to 55 lbs and 19 gauge will hold up to 35 lbs, so this 12 gauge will probably hold around 75 lbs. Also, remember to consider the equipment this wire will be attached to. If you attach a 75 pound item to the wall with a regular nail, the wire may hold, but the nail may break. Also, drywall is much less strong than hardwood. Therefore, if possible, use a nail finder to find hardwood behind the wall for drilling/nailing. I would recommend this wire for hanging very heavy objects like large mirrors, mailboxes, pots. plants etc. My canvas weighs about 20 pounds each and a length of this wire could probably support about 3 or 4 of them together.
