I am a big advocate of using coconut coir. Unfortunately, it went through a popularity trend a few years back. This has led to higher prices and less quality. I used to be able to buy coconut coir at my local big box for 3 - 5 dollars for 2.5 cu. Now I can't find 2.5 cu that is affordable. Very sad. anyway, I decided to try this brand due to reviews saying that it has less foreign/non coconut objects. The bricks are densely packed and re-hydrated pretty well. I did find a few large pieces of wood, and a small bit of black plastic, but otherwise it was pretty pure. There was no awful chemical smell when I re-hydrated. Value wise, it's one of the least expensive on ebay. It's still not my favorite price for 3 bricks.
