I bought this brush for hair rather than beard which is short but clearly too short for this brush to be effective. What is good. Because I bought it primarily to tame my awkward stage hair when I let it grow out. This is a quality product, good fit and finish and the brush feels solid. The handle is rubberized for a comfortable grip. When the brush is on, "OFF" will appear in the temperature window. Press and hold the power button for a long second until the default temperature (360 degrees) appears in the window. Press the button to view the temperature settings. Once installed, the brush heats up fairly quickly. I can't comment on how it works with a beard because you need at least a good inch to two inches of height for it to work; I'm a little ashamed of that. For my hair, which is around 4-5 inches long, the brush does a great job of smoothing and removing excess curl and waves. As for the beard, use the brush on dry hair. Apply a small amount of argan oil or heat protectant to hair before use. The brush is just the right size to be comfortable to hold and maneuver, as well as travel friendly; It comes with a storage/travel bag. The only flaw I found is that it's easy to press the temperature button and increase the setting when I grab the button. Overall, this is a good brush that works great regardless of the type of scalp you use it on.
