Review on πŸŽ’ Deuter Junior Kid's Backpack: Perfect for School and Hiking Adventures – Alpine Green/Forest by Kirk Womack

Side pockets shame

This is a good backpack for kids. See photo, it fits my little almost 9 year old child in a jacket. And it has enough space to undo the straps. It's pretty roomy, although we won't be using it for school. I don't see an option to conveniently place a folder there. Nature notebook, yes. Along with lunch, drinks, a toy and everything your child needs for a hike. It's very durable, well made and I expect it will survive a lot of nature trails. My biggest issue and the reason for 4 stars is that her water bottle (16oz thermos) falls out when she leans over. There is no way to tighten the elastic on the side pockets. This is a big mistake for me. These are big bags. My kids like to grab water easily, and they should be able to climb, bend down to pick up leaves, rocks, or whatever they can find without fear of hitting the water or anything else lose that could be there. It looks like most things will fall out of these side pockets when the child bends over. The elastic should be much tighter on them.
