I have been wearing compression stockings for several years due to heart disease, so I am used to the process of putting them on and taking them off. I've been using a different thunder since December 2014 and have a donning procedure that works for me. But it's starting to age a bit - it's still serviceable, but I wanted to see if I could find another one that might be a bit more durable. I saw this Truform Donner and decided to give it a try. It's about half the price of my original Thunder, so I wasn't expecting it to be as durable as my old one. But I figured for the money that if it lasts more than a year it's still a bit ahead of the old one. I didn't have to worry. It's MUCH stronger than the old one. The wire that makes up the frame is larger, so it feels less flimsy. I have the larger size with a 5" wide opening (the smaller size is 4" wide) - my calves are about 19" - and it's perfect. Note that the 5" hole may be too big if you wear smaller stockings to fit your socks over the frame, so be aware of the size and order the size you need.A quibble (which seems to be common to every wearer I've seen): it will supplied with a minimum of instructions. If you are new to using such a donning aid, be prepared for a 'learning curve'. With daily use it can take around a week to become familiar with the entire process (pull put a sock over the device and then slip it over your foot. First things first, socks aren't easy to load onto your device at first (you'll get used to it with practice). This dresser is lighter than my old dresser, probably because of the " wire" is larger and the sock is easier to put on. I only charge my socks to the point where the heel comes out of the hole according to the instructions. I get mine on sits (bad back etc) so once the sock is loaded I just slide my foot into the sock, align the heel, then place my foot on the ground and pull until the toe is about halfway height is. high. Then I simply take the top edges of the sock and pull it off the device and up the leg, trying to smooth out any wrinkles along the way. Proper heel placement is CRITICAL - skip this and you will have issues with pinching etc. To be honest I wouldn't fit my socks at all without this fitter and I MUST wear them every day or risk the consequences (though not pleasant.) Getting an inexpensive thunder with high quality materials and workmanship is a big one Relief! Solid well deserved 5 stars.
