I bought this mattress to use on my old mattress hoping it would last a few more years. As a king bed, I just couldn't afford a new mattress straight off the bow. I love this mattress topper, although I don't think it's 3 inches. It's no bigger than my old one which was 2 inches. Packing it up and sending it back was too cumbersome for me. Without fully revealing it, you would know by now, so I just didn't contact support regarding this. Anyway, I still love it because it's nice and solid! There were a few reviews that talked about the smell upon opening. high. I left it as instructed and only noticed a very slight plastic smell that completely disappeared when I put sheets on top. I have a very thick mattress which does make it taller but my sheet still fits in a deep pocket. I would say with confidence that when you have a well thought out mattress to lay them on, you need deep pocket sheets. I definitely recommend this mattress topper!
