I was about to get the FlipMino HD and saw this comparison at the last second. After looking at a few videos and photos taken by both, I concluded that the Kodak Zi6 has better lighting, better white balance, better image quality, and better sound quality. I was surprised to find that it was a lot cheaper than the $250+ FlipMino HD model I was considering. Also, FlipMino HD only recorded moving videos, not still photos. This camcorder records both photos and three different video versions and is equipped with a focus switch for high-quality "super close-ups". When it arrived I put the batteries in and turned it on. Turning it on only gave me a brief pause. I was expecting it to be an on or off switch, but what you actually do is hold the button down for a few seconds to turn it on and do the same to turn it off. From there, the whole interface is easy to understand without a manual. That's very intuitive. I love how compact it is. This makes it very portable. At the same time, the keys don't suffer from the micro-mania that has gripped technology in recent years. The buttons are still very easy to press and press as needed despite the camcorder's small size. The picture and sound quality is amazing, and a simple push of a button on the front opens the USB drive to transfer photos and videos straight to your computer in seconds. When you're done, simply fold it back and it resumes its streamlined design. That's great! What to look out for: - The power button is not a toggle switch. - The batteries that came with the camcorder are rechargeable and come with a charger, but mine was only 10% charged so it didn't last very long at first. - You need more memory if you want to record a lot of videos. It is only 128 megabytes but can grow up to 32 gigabytes. I found 8 gigabytes to be more than enough for my own needs.- The USB stick connects directly from the camera to the computer, which means there is no cable between them, which can be tricky for some computers. Make sure it is properly supported and not just hooked to the computer via a USB drive, otherwise one of the USB connectors could come loose. Cables are included to connect directly to your TV, so you can watch videos directly from your camcorder on your TV. .- One of the video modes is VGA (or "web ready”), which means you don't have to waste time compressing it for web publishing; she is ready. It includes video editing software. Overall I'm very, very happy with this camcorder, especially at this price point!
