I was a little scared to try them but I dared. I saw how difficult it would be to put them on if the child has wide feet, but I took this into account and ordered a size slightly larger than my son (18 months) needs. It's a size 4 but almost a 5. I had thick smartwool socks so it fit perfectly. I did trial runs at home before the snow to get him used to the weight of the boots and he did great in the snow. He even liked to stomp in the snow. Great boots. The mittens, however, were a waste. My son didn't want anything to do with it because they kept slipping away from me. They wouldn't fall as they have a strap, but his poor little hand couldn't catch it. He's also very young and small, that could be a factor. There are many more. Highly recommended and would buy again.
