I haven't bought anything but a Microsoft mouse for about ten years. I decided to give this a try because of the low cost and ability to work over long distances. In terms of range, I went to a different room and the mouse responded well despite being separated by an interior wall or two. After walking about ten meters with two to three interior walls, the mouse stopped responding on my latest HP i7 laptop. At first glance, I would say that this is an increased spacing mouse. I like the auto-shutoff feature, although I have a habit of turning off my Microsoft mice. The only possible problem is the weight. I'm probably old school (I taught computer science at university for over twenty years), but a heavier mouse would be preferable. I guess I'm in the minority on that. Overall I would recommend this mouse. The improved range may also be helpful for some. Since I've only had it for a few hours, I really can't comment on the battery life. Happy with the battery.
