Review on Silblade WB120S Premium Black Silicone by Richie Kotun

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good value for money but only lasts 5 years with regular cleaning

These are good blades. I've had my set for 3 years and just replaced it with the new Silblade. For the first two years they ran fantastic with no maintenance. That's a lot longer than anything else in this price range. After parking under a tree for two years, I found that I needed to start cleaning my windshield and wiper blades about every three months. I never do it because I forget. Fast forward the last route as the blade will smear water everywhere making it very difficult to ride. Finally, Silblades coat the windshield with a silicone microfilm. Light rain rolls in and blows off which is nice. If the sign does not function properly in moderate to heavy rain, the water will 'smear' and visibility will be reduced. I cleaned my windshield and louvers last year, but this last storm was my last. I really can't imagine getting wet washing my windshield because I'm putting off maintenance. I parked outside under a tree. Trees sap like crazy all spring/summer/fall, so yes, the windshield gets dirty and needs to be cleaned for any wiper to work properly. If I had a garage, it would last five years or more with minimal maintenance. And if I had supported them better, they might even have survived on the street under a tree for a full five years. Still, three years is a fantastic lifespan and value for a blade that costs about the same as a new Jackson blade. Finally, Silblade offers a 5-year guarantee, but I have to pay shipping to Silblade. It's not worth sending it back, especially since I need a replacement in the meantime. However, getting a $20 blade that lasts 3 years is pretty amazing. You can spend that amount on mid-range blades and replace them every six months. Good value for money.
