The shoes we loved are no longer made. This is the version of "II" and another. The worst thing about the novelty is that there is no metal support in the heel of the shoe. So if you try to put your foot in the shoe, the heel will fall through unless you have a shoehorn. The size is different. Maybe it's because the heel has no metal, but my normal size 8' won't fit in a size 8 shoe. I've thought about trying an 8 1/2, but I'm really put off by the lack of heel support . The shoes appear to be well made. The outsole is different but I think that could be a nice feature. (I couldn't tell as I couldn't fit my foot in the boot.) I've worn this shoe for ten years with my sore knees, bought six pairs, and the "shock absorber" sole was a godsend. It used to be easy to put on and take off. This is no longer the case. If you never owned the previous model, you might fall in love with this shoe.
