Review on Swiss Made Slow Jo 17 - 24 Hour Watch in Silver with Dark Brown Leather Band by Roy Cook

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A truly unique watch for thoughtful readers of the time. EDIT: NOT SO GREAT AFTER 2 MONTHS

I did this for 5 runs initially but changed my mind after 2 months of use - see first review below. I really wanted to love this watch. all the good stuff you can read below. The catch is that the small numbers around the edge of the dial (just below where the edge of the glass creates distortion) make it very difficult to read the watch. I mean yes I can see if I'm in the morning or afternoon but to be honest I don't need a watch for that. The numbers are so sparse that it takes serious focusing of your vision to decipher what time it is. So instead of looking at the clock for ever shorter periods of time. You start with this hour and try to decipher what time it is, and then that, 15 past, 25 past. etc. It just became a nervous breakdown for me. I've also heard of several other 24 hour clocks that work much better. Of particular note is the Botta Watch Uno, which actually pioneered the design of 24-hour single-hand watches. Choose it instead! Everything else about the Slow is great. I love the stainless steel case, sapphire crystal, cream dial, dial aesthetic, and leather strap. Just that it's really hard to tell the time. Maybe that's my limit, I just feel good knowing I have 10 minutes before the meeting and can grab a cup of coffee in a hurry. those 10 minutes you won't find in Slow Watch. So I'm wondering if you want to take it slow, maybe there's no better watch than Slow Watch. And if you somehow need to know the time, there are better options. ------- I like this watch. I'm addicted to this time. Learn different ways of thinking and feeling time. Metric time with 24 hours a day is an arbitrary convention. It is interesting to experiment with a different representation of metric time than the standard 2 times 12 hours. I was amazed at how much more "natural" this one-hand 24-hour watch is. It really resembles the position of the sun. At noon, a hand points to 12, the highest point on the sun. Sunrise left/west, sunset east/right. It's midnight all the time. I try to fall asleep before an arm reaches that point. It's a more intuitive approach to reading time, a more embodied approach. Well done, slowly! The processing quality is also very good. The only thing that comes to mind is a smaller version. But since I like it so much, I might be tempted to also get the slower Mo 06 with a slightly smaller 34mm case and black dial. Round before you set the time. Since 360 degrees is 24 hours long, you have to pay twice as much attention to the right time. I reset the time 3-4 times the first day. Also, the hand moves so slowly that it takes some time to make sure it actually works and works well. But after that everything is now set up and working very accurately. get it!
