I mainly compare them to the Starface brand. Sometimes they work well for me. But I can't be sure if it's just time or if they're really helping because it takes a few days. With brand patches, StarFace can help in a few hours or in just a day. I'm not sure if it really is a hydrocolloid? Maybe I got a bad batch. They were very sticky and sticky after a few hours of wearing.
