There are a lot of mic stands out there, but I don't want a cheap, noisy one. Since good sound is the reason you need an external microphone, invest in a quality stand. So I did a lot of research and there were only two mic stands worth considering: this one and the Rhodes (which sold out and sounded a bit less user-friendly anyway). For me it is important that the microphone stand is stable, easy to move and does not make any noise. Also, the clamp had to open more than 2 inches to clamp the table. That's all. It's easy to move and keep in place. It was relatively easy to assemble. The cable duct is very difficult to attach. Don't be frustrated, make sure you press hard enough, order and along the length of the lid and it will eventually (mostly) stay put. The hole in the base is also slightly larger than the stem, but once you get your hand in the right place, it rests snugly. Don't forget the shock-absorbing mic mount.
