First two things to know about these sandals. 1) You are absolutely miserable for the first week or two. I made the mistake of carrying a brand new pair to South America and after walking about 5 miles the first day my feet felt like they had been beaten with a meat grinder. 2) When they go through the break-in period. , some protrusions break rather than wear out. With my pair, however, this only occurred in heavily used areas and did not affect the wearing comfort. In each case, adjacent protrusions wore down to the same height. Which brings me to the reason I gave that 5 stars anyway. two caveats. Once broken in they are SUPER COMFORTABLE! I wear these sandals all the time and couldn't be happier. As long as you can suffer during the hacking phase, you will be rewarded.
