I ordered size M/L for my wife and I who lived in the Sierra foothills last summer during a campfire. Because the strap is doubled so that one part is worn at the nape of the neck and the other at the back of the head, it ensures a secure fit, and a sliding ball at the top allows you to tighten the elastic band as needed. Having a close-cropped beard, I was concerned about the effectiveness of the mask. With the right shape of the metal reinforced nose mold and the adjustment of the straps, I was satisfied that the mask prevented the inhalation of smoke and fine dust.
