Review on Pyle PWPBT60 Sound Box Splash: The Ultimate Bluetooth Rugged and Splash-Proof Marine Grade Portable Wireless Speaker in Black by Stephanie Garcia

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The sound is acceptable, but the volume range and Bluetooth are very limited

Normal speaker - nothing more. At $30-40 I think you can find better ones today. A few years ago this was a good budget option compared to others that cost more, but today it's an outdated device with subpar performance. Let me explain: 1- The sound quality and volume is fine. Sounds good, but far from HiFi quality. There are two small speakers on one side and two passive resonators on the other, which look like speakers but only carry internal noise to the outside. As for me, I use it on the beach and in those conditions it just can't keep up with the background noise of the waves. You can hear it when it's at full volume and within 8-10 feet. Beyond that, you can't hear it. This can be misleading as you can hear it just fine in a quiet room or maybe a quiet park, but I imagine a weatherproof rugged speaker could also use it on a beach or near a creek, so keep that in mind .2 - Bluetooth is an older technology with no range. The range I get from this is about the same as the noise on the beach - maybe 5-10 feet. When your phone is in your pocket and you move away a little, the music will stop. It reconnects as you get closer, so I just leave the phone in my chair bag or beach bag. This is annoying as the new speakers can move 20-30 feet.3 - Build quality is good if not improved. It's rubberized and seems ok but looks and feels like a cheap speaker.
