Over the years I have created several devices to try and solve the problem this product solves, only this product works much better. I started with black paper taped to the side of the TV but it was messy. I then had a long cardboard tube painted black suspended by 2 strings with a couple of washers to act as a counterweight. Eventually I got a capture card, sent the video (from tivo) to the computer, and wrote a wheel-mouse cropping application. This worked best but it took a long time each time and I couldn't get the full resolution, only 720p. I hate those banners though, so that was my choice. TV jockstrap solves all problems. It's stretchy (didn't think of that) so it fits well and is easy to put on and take off. No sticky mess, no hanging threads. In fact, I can just let it cover the bottom 1/4" when not in use instead of taking it off completely. Then it slides up in seconds. It's the perfect matte black so you can't really see it (my Samsung TV is black so it fits perfectly) The adjustable clip works really well, just pull the free end to tighten until gravity slides it off, there is a slight bulge in the middle but this can be corrected by tightening the strap tighter. My kit is only 40" long so the strap width seems perfect. Large screens may not work as well. I think you can always buy 2 in that case. I have this on the Gizwiz - Saw the show and bought it straight away. Makes a great gift.
