I upgraded to this system with an MB Pro 13 mid15, which means I went from the base model to the base model. I was aware that I was switching the device class, and I was anticipating a performance boost as a result of this change; but, what I really got astounded me. It was possible to take a model with an i9, but the i9 will have a high power consumption, and this is crucial for the job scenarios I run, so before you buy, consider whether you need these conditional + 10-15% compute power and less battery life. Equal time is spent working on the computer both at work and at home. At home, it is connected to the LG 27UL850 monitor through a single connection, from which it draws power and transmits both the picture and the data via the USB hub that is incorporated into the monitor. I don't see any issues with switching to type-C exclusively because everyone will eventually move away from the normal type-A connector, by which time we will already have all of the necessary peripherals. Strongly suggest going ahead and purchasing it!
