Poor display quality and unable to switch from S mode

Very poor quality display. Colors are not bright or deep at all. This affects not only images and videos, but also the font color. This is the worst quality I've seen on a computer screen since about 1995! To make matters worse, I can't get out of S mode. This means that I cannot download any applications other than Microsoft applications, which severely limits the usefulness of this device. So this laptop is completely useless for work or play.
