Review on Steelcase Series 1 Work Office Chair Canary: Comfort and Style Combined by Heather Sanchez

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Not what I expected - probably going back - if possible

I bought this chair after reading reviews saying it was one of the best Erg chairs was on the market. I do not agree. The chair is initially completely disassembled and delivered without assembly instructions. Fortunately, assembly is semi-intuitive. It includes setup instructions. If I could try this chair in a store I wouldn't buy it. This chair is marketed as comfortable and adjustable, but it is not. I find the chair uncomfortable and the adjustments limited. 1) Height adjustment is only really good adjustment. 2) The recliner has only three options - fixed vertical, hard full recline, and easier full recline. Very uncomfortable in an upright position. There's no way to control the range of the backrest, which is redundant - it feels like 35+ degrees. No forward lean control other than fully upright. The back has a strong tendency to throw you forward. As a result, I always push myself back to sit and stay in a comfortable position. 3) Seat depth is problematic. I'm 6ft 2" tall and with the seat all the way forward it only comes down to mid-thigh. With a full back I seriously doubt it would be suitable for a 6 year old. 4) Armrests - was difficult to install. so that the height adjustment works properly. Worst of all are the hard elbow pads. Yes, they move in and out and spin, but they float and don't have position lock. I am 75 years old and need armrests to get in and out of my chair. As soon as you try to sit down or get up from a chair, the elbow pads will stretch and twist, creating a VERY unstable situation. I have to be extra careful when getting up. I personally think this chair should be remembered as dangerous until the elbow pads can be snapped in 5) The chair is designed to snap into place without tools. Once fastened together, multiple parts, e.g. B. armrests, can no longer be separated. This makes disassembly for return impossible. I'm not sure how to go back if I can't see it. Steelcase usually makes very good office furniture, but this is the exception and it's overpriced for what you get. I'll give it a week and see if I adjust, but most likely I'll send it back. UPDATE - The more I use this chair, the less I like it. I'll try to return it, although I can't decipher it.
