First off, these throw some great heat; they will definitely keep your neck toasty. They are also very simple to use, with just two buttons and a nice little LCD display. Quite lightweight and not excessively rigid. The $40 price might seem high, but compared to other battery-powered heating devices, it's quite reasonable. I've seen heated socks that cost $80; it isn't cheap to heat yourself. The neckband is nicely padded and is a good intermediate size. It's about perfect for my neck and wasn't overly bulky on my partner's tiny neck.My main concern is with the shape. They've shaped them like headphones, which means the two ends bulge out, so if you want to zip your coat all the way up, it pushes the neckband away from your neck. They should've taken an idea from headphones with swiveling earpads and designed this so that the ends lay flat against your chest, which would work way better under a coat. But for around the house, or if you don't go full zip, these are great. One last note: All the boxes show a red item. We ordered black and the box arrived with the red image on the front, but the device inside was indeed black.
