I've only had the Sony iPod clock radio for a few days but I have to say I'm impressed and find its amazing quality. It was very easy to set up right out of the box. As promised, the correct time (EDT) appeared as soon as I plugged it in. Controlling the iPod was easy and intuitive. I have an iPod Classic, and even when the iPod's wheel is disabled (I keep the controls locked when it's in my purse), the cute little remote controls all the menus on the iPod. I was particularly pleased with how well tuned the FM radio was, loud and clear with no reception issues (my old radio kept drifting off station and I had to constantly re-orient the FM antenna). I found three of my usual music/news stations and blocked them right in the preferences. I had a little trouble setting the alarm, but later today I realized that the reason it didn't work as planned this morning was because I hadn't actually turned it on! lightbulb moment. Love the fact that I can set the MF time to wake up and leave it for the weekend. The best thing, of course, is the sound quality. It's clear, sharp and full. Today I was listening to medieval music and was very impressed by the timbre of the horn and the richness of the sound played at a moderate volume. I haven't tried the bass settings yet, but since (a) it's in my bedroom and (b) I don't listen to bass-heavy music anyway, it doesn't bother me too much. This unit is great for the bedroom and would make an ideal music system for a weekend/holiday home or kitchen. Damn, in my apartment this would probably go well in the living room. A minor annoyance: Sony (like iHome and Philips) assumes you have the small plastic dock adapter that came with your iPod. Sony included two dock adapters for the iPhone and iTouch, but not regular iPods. Do I know where I put the little piece of plastic that came with my iPod a year ago? Eh, no. Really, couldn't they just add a few more plastic adapters that would probably cost them up to 5 cents to buy or make? Fortunately, the Classic sits perfectly on the docking station without an adapter. But really? One small but nice thing: When I bought this the other day, it only came from an external Electronic Express website and not directly from Revain. Not only did EE not collect taxes (which I do as a New York State Revane resident), they also didn't charge for shipping. But best of all, it came a full day earlier than the earliest estimated delivery time. I was very pleased. I see it's a Revain Prime product now and for a few bucks more. How strange it changes from day to day.
