Our litter box is in an unused cupboard in our office. Although this place is remote and far from many other parts of the house, we always find litter on the vinyl floor around our house, sometimes very far from the litter box. The litter box is on the carpet and in the past we have used a rubber mat to prevent the litter from digging deep into the carpet. In short, the rubber mat we used was clearly ineffective, so we turned to this honeycomb mat. I cannot recommend this rug enough. The honeycomb style and the two-ply nature of the mat allows for the collection of small cat litter that would otherwise be pursued around the house by our cat. The mat consists of two layers: one is a honeycomb layer and the other is a standard flat layer. This allows the litter to be collected in recessed "combs" and the cat will no longer scatter it around the room. Once the mat is full, we can fold it into a V and dump the litter back into the litter box, allowing us to reuse the litter previously vacuumed. This mat is very absorbent. and catches more dirt than our previous rubber mat; I estimate that our closets have been reduced by 75% or more. Now we have to vacuum the closet once every two weeks instead of twice a week like we used to. I would highly recommend this mat to any cat owner struggling with a messy feline friend sniffing trash.
