Installation was relatively easy in my day but the resistors must be secured to the truck away from the plastic as the heat generated will melt the plastic. My taillights are all plastic and I didn't have enough length to mount them in a safe place away from the plastic. In terms of how they work, I have a 2017 Chevy Colorado with two LED headlights on each side. Without resistance, the front and rear turn signals will flash. If the entire rear light is hanging on the tailgate and the resistors are mounted, only the top LED will light up. When the turn signal was on, only the bottom LED flashed and it flashed at a normal rate. The front turn signals flashed normally. When the brake pedal is pressed, only the lower LED lights up. So until someone fixes these issues for my 2017 Colorado I will be going back to the factory bulbs.
