The Bell+Howell DV1100HDZ has good video quality, good low light sensitivity, a very bright built-in LED, record pause and bells and whistles like time lapse, slow motion and motion detection. But the microphone sounds terrible! It's very tinny and muffled, and in noisy environments like driving, the audio cuts out to the point of being completely unintelligible. Also, the autofocus shifts in and out of focus often, there's no image stabilization, it comes with an old-fashioned lens cap instead of a built-in lens shutter, it can only charge the battery via USB, and it records AVI to files. this does not work with iMovie. Overall, the Bell+Howell DV2300HDZ camcorder is a lot better than the 1100 for around the same price.
