ViewSonic VG2230WM 22 "

I bought this monitor to use as a screen for my MythTV home theater. 22 inches is a decent size for a bedroom TV replacement. This model is quite sensitive to light leakage, which is obvious on a completely black screen but otherwise imperceptible. Colors are good and images are crisp, especially when using the DVI input. I watched some HD clips on my MacBook Pro with this monitor and the quality is good. If you have a computer with a DVI output, you probably won't notice jagged pixel edges some distance from your desktop. When using VGA on a MythTV running Fedora Core 5, small text can be a bit blurry. SD video through MythTV PC's VGA input appears to be a little blurry, but that could be the way video is recorded. DVD-Video looks richer. Haven't tried HD video with VGA input yet. This monitor has built-in speakers. I don't use them. I tried them the other day just to see how they work and they're pretty bad. Pretty much any line of decent desktop computers. The speakers will surpass them. Also, the volume controls are only available when you bring up the OSD. I haven't used the monitor for gaming, but the video runs very smoothly. During the use of the monitor, no LCD lags of several weeks to months occurred. Overall the monitor does what I bought it for and as such I am happy with it. The price of the device was good compared to other monitors of this size. Anyone just looking for more desk space or a widescreen display that isn't a TV should be happy with this one.
