I have two of these and they hit hard! These are strange animals. They run a speaker cable there (two speakers for each of them, this is a double coil). And that's where the bass comes in, and anything over 150Hz goes to your speaker. This allows the speaker to play their notes more clearly because they don't have to play those lower notes. I use a subwoofer which I have had for many years but most of the bass comes from them. If you have smaller speakers this will really help. I set them up with 8" drivers for the front speakers but I can still hear the difference. I rewired my wiring so I don't use a dual coil, mainly to prevent my Denon from being overloaded.
