Review on Cozy Up with the Biddeford Blankets Comfort Knit Electric Heated Blanket - Black/White Buffalo Check by Mike Hernandez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Simple, light, WARM!

I love these Biddeford electric blankets. I've had one for years but when putting it away for the summer a mouse got caught in the cord and I've been looking for the same one forever. The material in it isn't as thick as it used to be, my old one was a bit heavier. But it's still going to be as hot as ever. And boy do they get hot! I use mine as a large heating pad when I have cramps. It gets hotter than some medicated heating pads I've used and I can wrap my entire waist in it. I sleep under me too. I'm 5'7" and if I lay down and spread out a blanket I can cover my shoulder OR my legs, but not both. I like this size as I tend to get tangled under large comforters. It's also a good size if only one person in bed wants warmth. Throw it under the covers next to you and you'll be warm while your partner sleeps cool. It's also the perfect size for a sofa, there's no extra material to drag it onto the floor or get tangled. They consist of three layers. The inner layer (which holds the "strings" that generate heat) appears to float freely between the two outer layers, but is actually stitched at the edges. So when the duvet is rolled up, it may appear as if all the inner cords are rolled up, but that's not the case. They are still there. And while it's slightly lighter than Biddeford blankets, the heating cables inside are also thinner and more flexible, which is a nice improvement. The "wires" seem very obvious at first, but you don't really notice them when you actually use them. My favorite part, however, is the controller. Auto shut off - a full TEN HOURS! This keeps my blanket from turning off at night and leaving me cold. There's a simple dial to choose the setting and ten different levels of adjustment from barely warm to "I'm going to sweat myself to death!" You twist the knob and then you flip the switch, it's easy. You don't have to press the button dozens of times to adjust the setting only to miss what you wanted and have to scroll through all the possible settings on the digital display like many blankets do. Just turn the dial and turn it on, easy. The dial REALLY rotates very easily, so if you click on it you might land on a different setting. The power cord is also very long. At least three meters, so you shouldn't have any problems getting to the socket. The remote control cord is shorter, slightly longer than an outstretched arm, so it wraps around your waist when you lie down covered with a blanket. I bought one for myself and one for Christmas. To be honest I can't say enough amazing things about this cast. I swear I'm not getting paid to write this or anything. I just think they're great and I want people who see one of them to have as much information as possible.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • cord is shorter than others
