Not at all waterproof/repellent

I bought this bag for cycling and replaced a $20 bag I bought at Walmart a few years ago. My commute is only 5 miles, less than half an hour, so I figured waterproof/repellent would be more than enough. The first time I took it with me in light rain, everything inside got wet. So wet like when I bring my bag from Walmart. it is about 3 years old. The bag itself is good, it looks simple and practical, it has a lot of storage space and it can be stowed away easily. But. except that the only moisture protection you need is carrying it out of the car, through the parking lot in light rain and the office is not enough at all. But I would come back. The warehouse where I work has gotten pretty dusty, so I think I'll have to leave. It's also worth noting that the fabric it's made of doesn't attract and retain dust and dirt well. Blowing with compressed air does not remove it, wiping with a damp cloth does not help, it seems to be a permanent part of the bag almost immediately after contact. So it went from a beautiful matte black to a dusty gray in one work day. He is only a few days old and looks very old. Part of me loves the look, but I'm a little disappointed it went so quickly. I expected more from this bag. I still had to replace my old one, however. I was hoping for a real upgrade. looks more like it. I thought I might stop using old ziplock bags to keep things dry. But I do not think. Maybe backpacks aren't something worth investing too much money into.
