Revainrating 5 out of 5

Owned for 6 months, no problems. Great picture, vivid colors, dynamic contrast makes the screen brighter than my other 500 cd/m2 monitor!

ASUS VH242H 23.6" Widescreen LCD Monitor (Black) is a great monitor! The picture looks beautiful and the dynamic contrast ratio makes the screen bright and colors crisp and vibrant. I've had it for 6 months now with no problems .I use it almost every day, several times a day, and put my computer to sleep when not in use.Sometimes I even manually turn off the screen to save power. The viewing angle is quite good when I'm off myself 1.5", my typical viewing distance, no/excessive discoloration when viewing the screen. I have it on an Ergotron armrest at eye level, it's light weight so even at 23.6" isn't a problem. DVI/VGA/HDMI -Connections are good and I mostly use DVI. HDMI comes in handy for previewing AVCHD 1080p video from an HD camcorder. The native resolution of 1920 x 1080 is perfect for watching DVDs, 1080 HD videos and even modern video games playing seamlessly at a native 1920 x 1080 resolution (eg. e.g. Codemasters GRID, FIFA 09, latest Harry Potter games, Ghostbusters, etc.) that fill the entire screen with no black borders "Editing audio and video on this monitor is just great! The resolution is just right for the Monitor so text and icons are big enough to read and small enough to still look good." be high-resolution. The built-in speakers come in handy when I don't want to turn on an external amplifier and surround sound. system, although initially the sound sounded smoother to me than what I was used to from the internal speakers on my other monitor (the 19-inch Scepter x9 Gamer). This may have something to do with the placement of the speaker, which is on the back giving a very nice, thin frame around the monitor.
