DEAD a year later in Camera & Photo

I first bought this camera in December 2011 solely to shoot small videos of dogs at local shelters to take for field adoption. For the price it worked great. There are focus issues, and it was annoying that if you tilt the camera a bit while recording, it goes into portrait mode, making your entire video thin and you can't alter it. You just had to be careful. The software has its own quirks and keeps crashing while browsing and editing your videos. Indeed - their software is a bit poor for a Sony product. One expects more from Sony. But then again, I got some cute little dog videos for the price and they fit nicely in your pocket. My Sony had the firmware 1.03. The update to 1.05 should have fixed some focus and touch issues. I found out what the hell. So I printed out the instructions and followed them verbatim. And it killed Bloggie. Dead. Contacted Sony online support. The solution is to press and hold the power button for at least 7 seconds. I've used this a few times when this thing blocked. Not fixed this time. Now I see on the net that many had the same problem installing the updated firmware. Of course, the warranty has already expired. It didn't cost that much, so I doubt Sony would charge for the repair. It should have taken longer. Luckily I didn't save the video to my bloggie. I left the pretty envelope on to protect its good looks, so now I have a shiny little paperweight.

Pros
  • Same as everything before
Cons
  • Easy to repair
