While this shirt does run true to size, the sleeves make it fit a little differently than most size large shirts. The tops of the sleeves are off the shoulder which makes them somewhat tight. If you have larger upper arms, this will be a problem for you. This shirt can definitely be worn alone as a button up. But it really is cute worn as a jacket. The fabric is fabulous! It's thick and it's soft. Nothing like what you get in most flannel shirts. It's 100% polyester so minimal wrinkles. Machine wash on cold. Tumble dry on low. I got the pink plaid. It's pink, brown, black and tan. Two nice big patch pockets on the chest. Large buttons down the front. Really cute worn over a lightweight t-shirt.
